43. Alas [What Can I Do?]

As a single red rose, Hangs its head low For it knows its time has come As a single petal, Kisses the ground For its day has only begun... Many quarrel that, Life is unfair But hell, what can we do? The black thunderclouds Are far from forgiving They will , and shall, corrupt you For the world is full, Of ignorance, hate People who don't understand... Smokestacks and chimneys Are murdering us slowly, Hailing evil with a gentle hand Polar bears melting Habitats waning Wildlife unable to scavenge a meal We are turning our noses Against the reality Thinking, no, this is not real What is of more importance- Planet Earth or Economy? In this world, it's trivial to tell When greed is a parasite Latched on us, tight Us weaklings unable to repel Yes, life is unfair Alas, not much I can do Than sit here and wonder, Recheck and ponder, Is this, All really, True?

42. Honeyed Lips: The World is Marvellous

I just went camping for the entire Thanksgiving weekend. It was quite a new and fun experience, actually. I especially enjoyed the scenery there, it was simply beautiful. This poem describes my feelings and thoughts of the whole thing, how much I loved the contrast of the white birch trees against the yellow leaves and black crows. The torquoise sky and winds completed the scene, forming a dance of fluttering leaves all over the place. Don't even get me started on the beauty of the night sky- immense number of stars peeking in through the dark sky. The world is marvellous. Enjoy. The air, so brisk- approaching the crystal blue sky Winds- tall as man, wide as land Golden carpet of fallen leaves... Old birch tree himself shaking my hand Rays of sunlight tingle the jagged cruel wind Rejoice; what a heavenly sight When Earth itself becomes a union Of love and peace and delight There is no need to talk, my lips sealed with honey The sap dribbling slowly down my chin W

41. Thank Goodness It's Friday

SCHOOL has pretty much driven me insane this past week! The huge history project that took me forever to complete, my internet breaking down the day before the damn thing was due, lots of procrastinating, my cross country competition cancelled, failing my French test...the list of shitty things that went on this week just keeps on going and going...! Not to mention the fun little incident today- a bunch of bastards put toilet paper on fire in the boy's washroom, and the fire alarm rang. This was followed by a series of unfortunate events, including the fact that we missed our lunch period, instead, we stood outside in the October coldness, me wearing a skirt of course, just my luck. To make matters as bad as humanly possible, it started spitting, then pouring, and we were all rushed around the field and muddy outdoors. When the school was safe again, it was like- 12:45...and we finally had lunch....JOY. Thank God it's Friday. Wake up in the morning, take a shower, feel alive
